The Measure Area Tool allows the user to interactively measure the area of a polygon on the Map Display.
Step 1: Click on the Measure Area Tool to make it the selected tool, the cursor will change to small cross-hairs.
Step 2: Click on the Map Display at the location you want to begin digitizing a polygon from, then click on several points to draw the polygon.
Step 3:
Double-click on the last point, which may be the starting point, but does
not need to be - ZIMAS will close the polygon for you. Both the last segment
and perimeter length will be reported in the upper left corner of the
Map
Display, while the total area will be displayed in
a pop-up window.
Step 4: Click on the
Map
Display again to start a new measurement and erase
the previous polygon; or select any other tool to stop measuring.
