The Legend Control Button opens the map's Layer Options and Map Symbols form, which is used to control the visibility of map layers in the Map Display, and to show an explanation of the symbols used on the map.
There are two types of changes you can make to the layers that are displayed. You can change the Background Display of the map to show Generalized Zoning, Generalized Plan Land Use, or Schools w/500 Ft Buffer. You can also turn various map layers on or off, such as Street Names, Buildings Lines, and House Numbers. Map layers can be turned on or off individually, or in pre-defined groups called Special User Settings.
To turn map layers on or off individually:
Step 1: Click the Layer Options tab.
Step 2: If necessary, scroll down on the Legend to locate the layer(s) you wish to turn on or off. Layers are grouped logically by category, such as Address/Legal Information, Jurisdictional Information, etc.
Step 3:
Click the check boxes on or off next to the layers you wish to change.
You can also turn on or off all the layers in a category by clicking
the check box to the left of the category name.
Step 4: Click the Apply Button to see the changes on the Map Display.
Note: Some layers are not visible at all scales. If you turn a layer on and still don't see it on the Map Display, you may need to zoom in or out in order to view that layer.
To turn map layers on or off with pre-defined groups:
Step 1: Click the Layer Options tab.
Step 2:
Press the arrow to the right of the Special
User Settings drop-down list to select from the predefined
Default,
DCP Counter,
LADBS Counter,
or Custom
options.
Step 3: Press the Apply Button to refresh the Map Display with the new layer selections.
Step 4: To reset the layer visibilities to their default settings, press the Reset Button, then the Apply Button.
To change the background of the map:
Step 1: Click on the Layer Options tab.
Step 2: Press the arrow to the right of the Background Display drop-down list.
Step 3:
Choose Generalized
Zoning, Generalized
Plan Land Use, or
Schools
w/500 Ft Buffer.
Step 4: Press
the Apply Button
below the drop-down list.

To view an explanation of map symbols:
Step 1: Click the Map Symbols tab.
Step 2: Press the arrow to the right of the Map Display Options drop-down list.
Step 3: Choose Generalized Zoning, Generalized Plan Land Use, Schools w/500 Ft Buffer or 2006 Digital Color-Ortho.
Step 4: Scroll down until you see the symbol or layer you are interested in.
